Ocean Odyssey is Knysna's only official whale watching permit holder, allowing us to approach whales to within 50m; if the whale chooses to come closer, we don’t have to move away. With a maximum of 25 passengers on board, personal service is guaranteed. During the tour, stops are made to watch whales, dolphins, sharks, and seals, as well as any seabirds that may be encountered. Other interesting features pointed out to clients include cultural facts, shipwrecks, geology, bird colonies, and anecdotal information. Inshore we’re always on the lookout for Humpback dolphins and Bottlenose dolphins. We see dolphins on 80% of cruises year around. In the deepwater, we’re in search of common dolphins and Bryde’s whales. The Bryde’s whale is resident in Knysna, and sighted on approximately 70% of cruises year-round. Common dolphins are known for their large group sizes, in Knysna the largest group we’ve seen during a cruise was approximately 10,000 individuals. During whale season, we have regular sightings of Southern Right whales and Humpback whales. Both species travel to South African waters for their breeding season. During peak whale season we spot whales on 95% of cruises.

We then venture out for a magical sail on the Knysna Lagoon, navigate the famous Knysna Heads and explore the spectacular scenery and marine and bird life of the Indian Ocean.  An excursion through the Knysna Heads out to the Ocean is weather dependant, and the tides may not always allow us to sail out to sea. Rest assured, though, you will have an exquisite experience no matter which direction we sail. Our Sunset Cruise includes one complimentary glass of sparkling wine per adult. GREN ROUTE TUBING SUP COMBO also available The trip includes a 20min scenic forest drive from Storms River Village to the drop off point in the Goesa Nature Reserve where you'll receive your tube. Fully kitted with specialized equipment and guided by local expert guides, a steep 800m walk down the side of the gorge gets you to river's edge Now the fun begins... for the next 4-5 hours we'll be negotiating our way down this phenomenal river by means of flatwater paddling, bouldering, optional tube and cliff jumps with lots of laughs and spectacularly unique scenery. Half way down we stop for a recharge with a chocolate bar and a tube balancing session. The cascade down double dumper brings us to our last few pools before the canyon majestically opens out at the Storms River Mouth Suspension Bridges in the famous Tsitsikamma National Park. Our exit at the concrete jetty brings us to the suspension bridge boardwalk that takes roughly 20min to walk back to the parking area where our shuttle bus awaits. The drive back through the National Park to Storms River Village takes 20min and back at Tube ‘n Axe a well earned hot shower and ‘lekker braai’ round off the days activity with complimentary media and a cash bar This trip is not suitable for children under 12 years old or for very unfit folks. The many steps and bouldering sections must be considered by anyone with weak hip or leg joints especially Please note: Tubing experiences vary according to changing river levels and weather conditions. Most (90%) of our trips are conducted on medium-low to low water and the trip entails pool paddling, bouldering and walking, tube jumps, swimming, and optional rock jumps up to 8m in height. THIS IS BOUND TO BE ONE OF YOUR MOST EXCITING INTERACTIONS WITH MARINE ANIMALS EVER! Seals, so ungainly on land, are transformed into the most graceful creatures once they enter the water. Their large, intelligent eyes follow the divers as they swim playfully amongst them, blowing bubbles and moving in for a closer look – this is a once in a lifetime diving encounter! The Seal Colony is found on the Robberg Peninsula and is only a 10-minute boat ride from the dive centre. It is a shallow dive (4-6m) and is suitable for all divers. Not qualified? Join us for a PADI Discover Scuba Diving course, which includes a lecture, pool session & seal dive (only takes one day)! Is it Safe? The seals are friendly and inquisitive, however as with any animal – if provoked or harassed, they would be capable of causing harm.

Plett Seal Adventures offers you a 1,5-hour guided tour to swim with seals in the Robberg nature reserve – a marine protected area in Plettenberg Bay. A fun outdoor activity for the whole family, where no experience is needed.  We meet 30 minutes before departure at our office, located at the bottom of Meeding street, Hobie beach parking area, next to the showers. All equipment needed is supplied.No experience needed. An exciting 20-minute boat ride takes you to the colony where over 6000 fur seals are waiting for you. Time to jump in and have some fun with these playful and very curios creatures. The guides are with you in the water during the entire experience, making sure you are having a great time. The swim lasts 30 minutes and then a scenic, fun ride back to the beach for a shower. The guides are taking photo’s of the trip, that you can download for FREE at our website.

Hire a SUP Board and explore the Knysna Lagoon from a unique perspective.'Take your time, stop at the beach,and catch some sunshine along the way!' Hire a SUP in Knysna and head off to explore our pristine lagoon on your own schedule. SUP boarding is great fun for the whole family, provided you can swim! For first timers, don't be nervous - the SUPs are stable and easy to manoeuvre, and you're guaranteed to create some funny, adventurous memories. SUPs rental rates are based on a per SUP, per hour basis. No previous SUP boarding experience is necessary. Remember to apply sunblock before heading out, and a sunhat is a must. Life jackets and paddles are provided. Bringing along your phones or camera's is not advised. All activities are based at the jetty in front of Sirocco Restaurant, Thesen Island.
